Evaluate the skills of the individuals in your department / unit against the goals and objectives the department wishes to reach. a. Link the job description to the goals and objectives. b. Highlight the skills needed to implement these goals and objectives c. Identify the gaps between the skills needed and the current skills in your department. 4. Critically explain how the performance management system implemented in your department / unit assists with the achievement of the departments goals and objectives. 5. Make recommendations to the improvement of the performance management processes in your department to ensure that the departments goals and objectives are met. 6. Explain the rewards and recognition procedures implemented by your department / unit. 7. Evaluate whether the reward and recognition procedures implemented by your department / unit are motivating employees to improve their performance. 8. Use the information and analysis you collected in question 1-7 and develop a strategy for your department / unit to improve departmental performance. Your strategy should include the following:

a. A vision and mission in line with the organisational / departmental vision and mission.

b. Implementation goals.

c. At least three objectives linked to the goals you listed

d. Tasks (actions), which you can implement in the department to improve performance.

e. You should consider the following:

  1. Effective recruitment and selection
  2. Effective performance management system
  3. Effective rewards and recognition system
  4. Alignment of strategy against employment equity and affirmative action principles.
