13. (20) Some of you may have been discomfited recently when your recenved an email from the university stating that a summer class for which you were registered had been cancelled. If not, count yourself among the fortunate as many courses were climinated when it was announced that the university loses significant money on summer classes and, given our fiscal pontion, we are no longer in a position to do so. Of course, further confusion was sown when many of those classes were reinstated. At the core of this unfortunate turn of events was a calculation by our administrators of finance that yielded the aforementioned losses Upon further inspection, one of my colleagues discovered that this calculation went as follows summer classes account for 9% of university revenues and therefore need to offset 9s of university expenses to not lose us money.
