14. Aaron owns a bakery on the Upper Eastside of Manhattan where he believes he can charge a "good" price for his high quality bagels. He believes he can sell his bagels at $3.50 each and at that price would be willing to produce 300 a day. Unfortunately the well-off residents love a bargain even more than they love the bagels and would only purchase 120 at that price. Frustrated, he cuts his price to $1:50 per bagel for one week to see how that works. At $1.50 he is only willing to produce 140 bagels, believing his time would be better spent on baking other bread products, but customers overwhelm his store looking for bagels and he sells out every day before noon. Based on the number of customers who visit his store each day, he counts up the number of bagels he could sell at $1.50 and is surprised to note that it adds up to 280 a day. His wife studied economics in school so she helps him estimate the equilibrium price and quantity using algebraic functions and he is quite impressed! a) Show the likely calculations his wife would have done using algebraic functions, and what the equilibrium price and quantity would be. b) Being a rather stubborn man by nature, he really wants to produce and sell more so he decides to sell at a highr price and donate the surplus to charity and see if the tax deduction would work to his financial advantage. He decides to sell at $3:00 a bagel and donate all the surplus to charity. How many bagels a day will he be donating to charity? Sketch a graph and show your work
