14. Between 1966 and 1978, huge quantities of toxic chemicals were illegally dumped in the Buzby Landfill in Voorhees Township, New Jersey. Toxic chemicals later escaped and poisoned the groundwater and air surrounding the landfill. John Canuso, a builder-developer knew about the dangerous chemicals in the groundwater but decided to build a housing development anyway on a parcel of land near the Buzby Landfill. Canuso hired the marketing firm of Fox and Lazo to sell the houses. Fox also know about the toxic waste. The sales brochures showed houses in an idyllic setting of fresh air and clean lakes. None of the brochures nor the sales representatives mentioned the toxic landfill. After purchasing and moving into their new houses, may buyers complained of offensive smells and foul smelling and tasting drinking water. The buyers then sued Canuso to rescind their contracts and refund their purchase price. Can the buyers get their money back? Discuss. Strawn v. Canuso, 140 NJ.43,657 A.2d 420, 1995)
