Each question should represent a new section or paragraph. The interview may take place on the telephone. You may also email the questions to the interviewee in advance to help prepare them for the interview. The interview should flow as a conversation. During the conversation, some of the questions may be answered prior to you asking them; the questions do not have to be answered in the exact order as presented. Type the owner's responses to the questions in a Microsoft Word document in a Q and A format. State the name of the business, the owner's name and title. the type of business, and why you chose to interview this business owner. Then begin the interview with the following questions: 1. Please describe your business. Where is it located? What types of products and/or services do you offer? 2. Who is your primary target audience? Please describe the demographics of your primary audience, i.e. age, sex, ethnicity, income, education, etc. 3. How long have you been in this industry? How has the industry changed since you've been in it? Where do you see opportunity for growth or positive changes in the next 3-5 years? 4. What are the pros and cons of working in this industry? 5. What are the start-up costs and the barriers to entry? 6. What credentials are needed to be successful in this industry, i.e. education, work experience, etc? 7. What entry-level positions will prepare a recent college graduate to work in this industry? 8. What form of legal structure, i.e. sole proprietorship, partnership, corporation, etc., did you select for your business and why? 9. Would you consider franchising your business? Why or why not? 10. What made you select this profession? 11. How did you get started? 12. What challenges did you have to overcome? 13. How does your organization support or give back to the community
