1.On a foggy and freezing winter night in the town of Umbria, Abel and his buddy, Berry, were drinking in their favorite local tavern. Abel, who was significantly taller and heavier than Berry, had a reputation for violence when he drinks. At the other end of the bar was Vincent, a visitor from out-of-town who had been flashing a lot of money to pay for drinks. Abel and Berry, who were both drunk, decided to rob Vincent as soon as he left the bar. At last call, Vincent announced in a loud voice that he was "too drunk" to drive to his hotel and asked if anyone could drive him there. Abel and Berry volunteered. The three men left the tavern in Berry's car. As Berry drove, Abel pulled out a knife and compelled Vincent to turn over all his money. He then made Vincent take off his coat and strip to his undershirt, lower his trousers, and take off his shoes. When Abel was satisfied that Vincent had no more money, he ordered Berry to stop the car on a rural road that is miles from town. Abel then forced Vincent out of the car. With his trousers still down and his shirt rolled up, Vincent fell to the ground. Abel then dumped Vincent's remaining clothing out of the car and told Berry to drive away. Berry complied, but five minutes later said, "That guy could freeze to death on that road, we should go back and get him." Abel told Berry to "shut up" and keep driving, which he did. Vincent was too drunk to get up from the road. Coleman, who was driving a pickup truck at 40 MPH in a 30 MPH zone and had on his low beams, did not see Vincent lying on the road until it was too late - Coleman's truck hit Vincent, killing him instantly.
