1.Provide an update on the status of the implementation of your strategic plan above. status update:

As of now, we have developed a plan that will be applied to the company's conceptual framework. We can now begin integrating the plan with other aspects of the business and should have an operational program in place by January of next year. The action plan will be to validate the plan with a group of key senior line managers.

2.What have you done thus far? Done most all that was set out in my initial plan. I've turned over responsibility for group planning to a group member called Liz Taylor, and she has been able to integrate the strategic plan into other areas of the business and all levels of the company. I've also spent more time with my team, as I feel that it's important for them to see how I work from day to day and how I get things done. This has helped foster a sense of trust in me, which will be part of making this plan more successful.

3.What roadblocks (if any) have you had? We've had a few minor speedbumps, but nothing major at all. Some people are still suspicious of me, but they're slowly getting over it as they see that I'm not there to take over or control the business - I'm just there to help them run their business better. Another aspect is the lack of resources. The company hasn't really given me anything, as they're not sure what to do with me.

4.How do you plan on getting past these obstacles? I've been working hard to get them to see that I'm not out to get them, but that I want to help them become a better organization. We've already begun working together at local stores and with vendors, and now we're communicating our goals with all levels of the chain - back offices, store managers and our supplier representatives. This is just the beginning, though; I know we have a long way to go.

5.What are your next steps? I would like to begin making everyone more involved in the business by making this a participatory process. The next steps are to get everyone's input and really incorporate them into the creation of our operational program.

6.Do you have any questions or need any suggestions?

Suggestions: I'd like to go back over my communication plan and see if there's anything else I can do on a personal level to gain the support from my team. Also, if there's anyone here who has some advice for me, that would be great. The suggestion will help me better understand my own strengths, and maybe even learn a new skill or tactic.
