Question 2

Speaker 1 (00:00)

Hey, buddy. This is Vanej speaking. How are you doing? Listen, buddy, I bought this Beamer from Loki. You remember Imos? He's got that big second-hand car dealership across Pajama Hospital. Anyway, he sold me this Beamer on credit, and I'm paying monthly installments on it. But I spent some real money on the car, man. I paid like 60 grand for an Alpine sound system. Man, that thing sounds good. I lowered the suspension and I put some nice tires on the thing. All in all, I spent about 100 grand on it. But you know I got into trouble? Eesh, man, it's that gambling problem of mine. Dude, I lost everything. So, Loki took the car back and all. But I want my money back for the extras and everything that I paid on it. Now, He tells me he's only going to give me 10 grand for the extras, but he's going to subtract VAT, VAT as he called it from this. So, he says he's only going to give me five grand after deducting the VAT. Look, I'm not going to fight him on the value of these extras on the 10 grand because I really drove the shit out of that car, man.

Speaker 1 (01:26)

I think it's going to blow a casket anytime soon. Before he comes back to me and claim for all the expenses you will have on the car, I'm just going to take the 10 grand. What the heck? No, man. That VAT. No, I'm not going to pay that. That doesn't make sense to me. I just don't understand how he can just deduct the VAT from that. I mean, I work for Midas, man, as a spare salesman. I earn a decent salary and everything, but how can he just deduct a VAT? It doesn't make sense to me, man. Anyway, can you please, please, please help me? Help me soon. I need that money. The missus is going to kill me. Oh, she's going to kill me so hard.

WHAT IS REQUIRED OF YOU?

You still owe Vinesh a favour for the time at school when he took the blame when you were spinning donuts with your Kawasaki motorcycle in the school's assembly hall. Accordingly, you do not want to charge him a fee for your legal advice. However, Vinesh is not that good at comprehensive reading. Record a voice note (maximum ten minutes) in which you explain the VAT consequences of the business model to Vinesh, who has no legal or accounting background, in a language that he will understand.
