2. In a blast furnace, the amount of coke in a blast furnace is 800kg per ton of pig iron produced. The load contains two different hematite ore. One (A) contains high silica, while the other (B) contains high proportion of limestone. Analyzes of the ores, coke and pig iron are given below. In order to obtain the specified low sulfur content pig iron, the slag should have CaO/SiO2=1.4. The ratio of CO/CO2 in the gases is 2 . Calculate the following per tonne of pig iron produced. a) Weight of A and B ores. b) The weight and sulfur content of the slag extracted. c) The volume of air blown. d) The volume of flue gas emitted. e) The ratio of the volume of gas released to the air volume.
