Jake is the head soccer coach for a high school team in Toronto. He believes all his players have the capacity to be great and the vision he upholds is that to be a good soccer player, you have to be a good person. The same rules that apply on the soccer field apply to life and the integrity shown on the field needs to extend to every player's real life. Everyone who plays on his team love and respect him because he practices what he preaches by modelling his message. He has creative ways to communicate this message to players on the field using drills and he encourages risk taking within safety limits Jake is naturally charming and likable especially because people get motivated just by being in his presence. Tom checks on his alumni students after they have graduated and left the team and he often notices that his players do not continue the values of the team after they leave the team. In fact, when Jake is not around, the players are not as motivated towards the vision but their love admiration and respect for Jake keeps them aligned with the vision. Jake's vision does not exist beyond Jake.
Evaluate this case and identify if Jake is a Charismatic Leader or Transformational Leader: Provide reasons for your answer according to what was discussed in class.
