2. Performance Measure (10 points) You are asked to improve the performance of a 370 MHz. processor which has a clock rate of (a) (3 points) You are given a table of measurements made by the previous team. This machine (Mold) has an average CPI of 3.7 and 5 instruction classes. However me table entries are missing. Assume instruction classes A, B, and E have equal frequency of occurrence. Fill out the following table with the correct frequencies and CPI CPI Instruction class 15% (b) (2 points) Based on the assumption made in part(a), Calculate MIPSMa (c) (3 points) Now we are able to reduce number of instructions by 10% for class A and B: 20% for class C and D; and class E remains the same. This new machine is called Mnee Calculate CPIMnew Calculate CPnew(You do not need to simplify your answer). (d) (2 points) Now another team proposes to reduce average CPI to 3, at a price of increasing the number of instructions. Calculate the ratio of instruction count to original instruction count to make this design comparable in performance to Mol Again, you do not need to reduce fractions, etc
