2. Please use the gss2018 or issp2009_ea data sets uploaded to Moodle for the following exercises. Just choose one of these two datasets for the following exercises.
3. Please do the following exercises using R and interpret the results:
A. Choose one nominal-level variable, one ordinal-level variable, and one interval-ratio-level variable from the dataset of your choice and report appropriate descriptive statistics (including central tendency and dispersion) for each variable.
i. Choose your variables carefully. The variables selected can be used to answer Problems E ~ H. Make sure one of them should be considered the independent variable with reasonable rationale.
ii. Please make sure that you handle the missing values properly. For this and the following exercises, you may need to recode the variables (e.g., recode an ordinal-level variable to an interval-ratio-level variable or vice versa).
B. Use the variables selected above and construct appropriate graphs.
C. Use the nominal variable selected and construct the 95% confidence interval for the population proportion. Interpret the result.
D. Use the interval-ratio-level variable selected and construct the 99% confidence interval for the population mean. Interpret the result.
E. Perform a hypothesis test for two sample means with the selected variables. Interpret the result. Please use the five-step hypothesis-testing model to explain your testing process and the results for this and the following exercises.
F. Conducf a hypothesis test for two sample proportions with the selected variables. Interpret the result.
G. Choose two variables and run a one-way analysis of variance. Interpret the result.
H. Choose two variables and conduct the bivariate correlation analysis and linear regression analysis. Report and interpret the results. You should report the regression results in detail, including the F-test for the model, R2, the coefficient of the independent variable and its significance test result.
