2. We have two types of temperature measurement sensors: a platinum resistance temperature detector (RTD), and a chromium oxide thermistor. The formula of resistance measured at temperature T is shown as follows: 1) For the RTD, R, = Ro [1+a(T-T.)] , where Ro is the resistance at the reference temperature To, a is the temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR). ( 1 1 2) For the thermistor, R, = Roe " To) ", where Ro is the resistance at the reference temperature To, B is the material constant. Note that the temperature unit needs to be Kelvin here. a) Suppose we know that for the RTD, Ro = 100 2 corresponding to To = 0 .C (or 273 K). At T= 80 C (or 353 K), the resistance of the RTD is R, = 133.4 2. Please compute the TCR a for the RTD. b) Please derive the formula of relative sensitivity of the RTD, i.e. I dR, , and compute the RT dT relative sensitivity at temperature T = 25 C (or 298 K). c) We also know that for the thermistor, Ro = 15 kQ2, B = 3380 K, To= 25 .C (or 298 K). At a specific temperature T, we measure the resistance of the thermistor is 28.6 k2. Please figure out this temperature T. d) Please derive the formula of relative sensitivity of the thermistor, i.e. I dR, -, and compute RT dT the relative sensitivity at temperature T = 25 C (or 298 K)
