2. We would like to measure a current (Is) that flows in a circuit. It could be as high as 1 A. However, the ammeter we have can measure only up to 100 mA. Therefore, we decide to use a current divider as seen in Fig. 2 and insert the ammeter in one of the parallel branches. Problem: You have to choose resistor values R1 and R2 so that the maximum ammeter current is 100 mA. You are supposed to use standard resistor values in a Table (page 4). Design Criteria: Power consumed in the circuit should be less than 1 W. Check: i) Once you finish your design, find a relationship between the measured current and real current ii) What is the maximum value of the current you can measure with your design? iii) Verify all your theoretical results by simulation. In your simulation model, you need to measure current Is and currents flowing in R1 and R2, the total power consumed in the circuit.
