24. An ethanol-propanol mixture of 1000kg/h containing equimolar amount of ethanol (C2H5OH) and propanol (C3H8O) is to be separated in a continuous plate column operating at 1 atm total pressure. The desired terminal compositions in terms of mole fraction of ethanol are xD=0.92 and xw =0.1. The feed is saturated liquid and total condenser is used. Reflux ratio used is 3 and relative volatility is 2.4.Find the number of theoretical plates required for each section. Calculate the amount of liquid obtained as distillate and residue. (5Marks)
