24. P was an owner-driver. When the gearbox of P's truck was damaged, P contracted with D, a carrier, to collect a spare and to deliver it to him. D promised to deliver the new gearbox the next day, but was not able to deliver it for five days. Because of D's delay, P lost $3,000 in fees. (ABL 6-430)

(2) Can P also recover damages for the loss of a lucrative local government contract for which P was unable to tender because his truck was out of action?
