2. An Olympic sized swimming pool that measures 50m by length and 25m by width is swept by wind at a speed of 3m/s along its length. While the pool is wet decked (namely the water surface is levelled with the decking), there is a perimeter drain around the pool. The pool water is maintained at 27C, while the surrounding air temperature is 5C and 20% relative humidity, and the sky temperature is 12C. As it is nighttime, there is no solar insolation. The emissivity of the pool water can be taken to be 0.8. The latent heat of evaporation of water can be taken to be 2463 kJ/kg. DAB of water-vapour air mixture is 2.437105m2/s. (a) Calculate the convective mass transfer coefficient for evaporation. (b) Calculate the convective heat transfer coefficient. (c) Calculate the total heating load of the swimming pool (in kW).
