3. Aaswer ALL parts. (a) Compare flame emission spectroscopy whith inductivety coupled aphteal erintion spectroscopy under the followiag headings: (i) range of elemems analysed and (ni) sensitivity of the tochnique. (20 mark): (b) What technique would you use to determine the following analyes is waker? (i) Cd2+ at 10ppb levels. (ii) Tetrabutylammonium bromide at 10mM levels. (ii) Quinine at ppon levels. [10 marks] (c) In a ICPlMS experiment a standard solution containing 90 ppb analyte and 60 ppb internal standard gave peak areas of 400 and 350 for the analyte and the internal stindard, respectively. 10cm3 of the unknown analyte and 10cm3 of 15 ppo internal saandard were made up to 25cm3. When a portion of this solution was raa under the reme conditions as before, a peak area of 550 was found for the analyte and a peak area of 600 was found for the intemal standard. Calculate the concentration of the telknown analyte. [20 marks]
