3. Diffusion Tube Experiment (40 pts) You are to design a laboratory experiment for a transport class to measure the diffusion coefficient of hexane (A) through stagnant air (B). The experiment will be carried out at room temperature, 25C, which is assumed to be constant. A pool of pure liquid hexane is at the bottom of the diffusion tube and the partial pressure of hexane in air at this temperature is 151 torr (pAl=151 torr). Assume that at the top of the tube the partial pressure of hexane is held constant at zero torr (pA2=0 torr ). The instrument to measure the drop in the liquid hexane level requires a drop of 1mm to be accurate. The experiment must be completed in tF=45 minutes so that students can make their next class. What value of zo must be used so that the drop of the liquid hexane level is 1mm in 45 minutes? Assume that air is not soluble in the hexane liquid
