3. FIELD WORK: PROJECT______________________________________________________

Collect published financial statements of at least Six companies. Two of these companies should be manufacturing concerns, another two service providing companies (e.g. airlines, power distribution company, etc.) and last two financial institutions. Compare the contents of these statements and prepare a report thereon, converting such areas as:

How well the statements have been prepared?

How detailed and helpful are the notes to the accounts?

How informative and realistic is the Directors Report?

How clean is the audit report?

How different is the composition of assets and liabilities of these companies?

Do these reports appear to be capable of fulfilling their three functions of information, control and planning?

Is there any evidence of deliberate misstatement/creative accounting?
