3) The car shown in the figure is filled with water and the balloon is tied to the bottom of the car by a string. The car is accelerated to the right at a constant rate. (a) What way will the balloon be deflected - towards the front or the rear? (b) Suppose a heavy object is hanging from the top of the container. Which way will it be deflected - towards the front or the rear? Explain your reasoning with quantitative arguments! Hints: (i) The string can only exert tensile force (on the object) that is pointed along the string! Let this force be Fs (to be found). (ii) After deflection, the object will assume an equilibrium position. Once this equilibrium position is reached, the body of water and the object will accelerate as a rigid body, and the pressure field in the liquid can be found from the equations we derived in the class. You can then use Gauss's theorem to find the total surface force on the object due to the fluid (which will be nothing but the generalized buoyancy we discussed in the class). (iii) Apply Newton's second law to the object and determine F2. Examine the orientation of Fs. From this orientation, deduce whether the string should be tilted to the front or to the back
