The variable of interest is MFED (how a student's mother would vote in the upcoming federal election, among the three choices of Conservative, Liberal, NDP). In the 2019 election, 67.2% of Albertans voted Conservative, 12.3% of Albertans voted Liberal, and 20.5% of Albertans voted NDP. Note: These numbers are re-weighted to add to 100% as the survey question only offered three choices: Conservative, Liberal, NDP. (a) Create a frequency table to find the counts of mothers for each political party. (2 marks). (b) Conduct a goodness-of-fit test in order to see if the distribution of votes among Alberta mothers differs from the overall Alberta percentages from 2019. Use the 5% significance level. Include all steps in your write-up, making sure to discuss the assumptions (you will have to calculate the expected frequencies to check them by hand). (7 marks) (c) In part (b), you performed statistical inference about voting preferences among all Alberta mothers using a sample of 44 mothers.
