(40 Points - 10 pts for each section A, B, C, D) Identify the stage/level of Maslow's Pyramid you feel you are most at/on -

  1. (40 Points - 10 pts for each section A, B, C, D)
  2. Identify the stage/level of Maslow's Pyramid you feel you are most at/on - (if you feel like you are straddling two levels - tell which two levels and chose the one you are "mostly" on.)
    1. Example: I feel like I am mostly at the Esteem level on Maslow's Pyramid; however, some days I feel like I am at the love and belonging stage.
    2. Briefly explain the characteristics of this level
      • In other words: Tell what is happening at this level. Tell what needs are being met, etc.
        • Example: Physiological: At this is the level one is simply trying to meet his basic needs. At this level, one may be struggling to obtain life-sustaining needs like food, water, or a getting sleep. If one is at this level, he or she may be in life-threatening danger.
    3. Tell why you feel you are at the level you identified. How did you arrived at the conclusion you are at this level or between levels?
      • I am at the physiological level because I do not have food to eat each day. I barely get enough sleep. I rarely sleep more than three hours per day and I have to rely on others to give me food because I do not have the money to buy my own.
    4. Discuss what you "would have to do" to move to the next level of the pyramid; or describe what is holding you at this level. In other words, if you were in the love/belonging stage, what would you have to do to get to the esteem level?
      • Example: In order to move up from the physiological level on Maslow's pyramid, I would need to secure a job that will allow me to obtain food and drink consistently, or I would have to find someone who would help me meet my basic needs daily.
  3. (10 Points) Discuss self-actualization.
    1. In your words, explain self-actualization - a few sentences.
    2. Describe what you think your life might be like if you make it to this level.
  • Consider: What are the benefits of self-actualization? How would self-actualization affect your behaviors (what you do) and your ways of thinking (values, moral, attitudes).
  1. Explain why you think so many people do not make it to this level?
  • Recall: Maslow suggested that only 2% of all people reach and remain at this level.
