5. Paul Krugman is a Nobel-Prize winning economist (the Nobel Prize part means he's a really smart guy). During the Great Recession of 2008-2010, he suggested that the U.S. government should convince people that the world is in danger of attack from space aliens. Krugman even suggested that scientists get together to create a lie that such an attack is about to happen. (Krugman was sort of joking here to make a larger point.) Krugman claimed that the fear of alien invasion would have sped up our recovery from the so-called Great Recession.

How would this plan accomplish its goal? Do you think fear of and preparation for an alien invasion would be Good for the economy? Explain why or why not.
