6. [40+20=60 points] A company is allocated network addresses with prefix 200.1.1.0/24 and has three departments with hosts that need to be assigned addresses. The hosts in a department are on a local area network and are served by a specific router. The routers are interconnected to one another. The resulting configuration is shown in the figure below. Subnetting is used for security and easier management of the network. The required number of valid IP addresses is indicated for each department. Each address shown in the figure represents the address assigned to the router interface that is connected to the LAN it is serving. To conserve the addresses, the point- to-point link interfaces between routers are not given separate IP addresses. Instead, each router is known to the other two by its address on its LAN. (a) For each LAN, assign one subnet such that the number of wasted addresses is minimized. Indicate the subnet numbers using CIDR prefix/length notation and the addresses that are not allocated and available for future use. Annotate the diagram with your answers. (b) Give the routing table for R1 based the addresses assigned in part (a). Dept. A: CO 120 hosts 200.1.1.1 R1 R2 R3 200.1.1.193 200.1.1.129 Dept. B: 12 hosts Dept. C: 60 hosts
