Initially we intend to continue to use the existing accounting system, but with the goal of outsourcing that function in the near future. Our immediate concern is the preparation of operating budgets for the next six months Just to give you a bit of background. We have only recently purchased the motel and had not intend to operate the motel as we have no experience in this type of business. As the motel had been closed for several years, we were going develop the land into a residential estate. However, after discussions with the local council who wished the motel to continue, we have decided to operate the motel. The council had been approached by the local traders and tourism operators who were concerned that the closure of the motel restricted their operations. With financial support from the council and a federal government tourism grant we are able to refurbish the motel to open and to cover the six-month start up period. We have been unable to find any financial information left by the past owners. As you know we operate the North Coast Charter which operates fishing vessels and knew nothing about motel operation. We are currently looking for an experienced motel manager. But thought it best to have operating budgets in place for whoever we hire to review!
