7. A cell free extract contains 48mg protein per milliliter. Fourty milliliters of this extract in a standart incubation volume of 0.1ml catalyzed the incorporation of glucose from glucose-1-phosphate into glycogen at a rate of 3.2nmole/min. Calculate the velocity of the reaction in terms of, a) moles/min. b) moles/lt/min. c) moles/mg protein /min. d) Units/ml e) Units/mg protein. 100 milliliters of this extract was fractionated by ammonium sulfate precipitation. The fraction precipitating between 20% and 40% saturation was redissolved in a total volume of 30ml and dialyzed. The solution after dialysis occupied 35ml and contained 60mg protein/ml. Twenty microliters of the purified fraction catalyzed the phosphorylase reaction at a rate of 5.9 nmoles/min under the standard assay conditions. Calculate the recovery of the enzyme and the degree of purification obtained in the ammonium sulfate step. ( 20 point)
