(8 marks) d) A gas-turbine power plant at sea level operating on the Brayton cycle has a pressure ratio of 9. The temperature of gas at the inlet to the compressor is 316K and temperature of gas at turbine inlet is 1352K. Utilizing appropriate air standard assumptions where necessary determine the following: use: Yair =1.4 and Yexhaust =1.33 Cpair =1.005 kJ/kgK and Cpexhaust = 1.15 kJ/kgK i) Temperature of the gas at the exit from the compressor Temperature of the gas at exit from the turbine ii) iii) iv) v) net work produced in kJ/kg specific heat into the cycle in kJ/kg Thermal efficiency of the power plant using above gamma (y) and cp values I vi) Thermal efficiency using cold-air standard assumptions a hp (14 marks)
