a) A Liquid phase reaction, A+B C is carried out in a batch reactor (10 L) to produce 100 mol of C in 4 h. The reactants are charged in the reactor at the following composition: 150 mol of A, 200 mol of B and 500 mol of solvent. The reaction is conducted at 343 K. The rate law is given as follow: 5000 -A = 1.2 x 10e T CACB b) To scale up the process the 10 L batch reactor was transformed to a CSTR. The initial concentrations in the feed are same as in (a). Express the conversion as a function of space time (t) and estimate the molar flow rate of C for t = 5 h. (10 Marks) (C4, CO3, PO2) c) The following reactor scheme is proposed by a chemical engineer to produce 28.5 mol/h of C without changing the molar flow rate of A and B: 10 L CSTR PFR. The volumetric flow rate of the feed, Vo = 24 h'. Design the PFR. (8 Marks)
