a) A solution containing 6.5mol% ethanol, 5.4mol% acetic acid and balance water is fed to a separator at a rate of 120molh. The separator operates at steady state. Three product streams, named as stream A, B and C, leave the separator in which 95mol% of ethanol fed to the separator leaves in stream A and 5% leaves in stream B. Stream A and B contain 15% and 80% of the acetic acid fed to the separator, respectively. About 70% of the water fed to the separator leaves in stream C and 15% in each of stream A and stream B.
