(a) A venturi meter is used to measure the flow rate of water for supply to a water tank. If the pipe diameter is 95 mm, determine the venturi throat diameter if the u-tube manometer connected across it indicates a pressure of 200 mm and the flow rate of the water is 0.I m /s. The coefficient for discharge for the meter can be taken as 1.0. The following formula may be used: P1 - P2 = 3 P (V2 2 - v12 ) (b) It is proposed to upgrade the supply to 720 tonne per hour. This can be done by pumping 720 tonne per hour through the existing 95 mm bore pipe of length 50 m, or by installing another, identical 95 mm bore pipe in parallel. The pipe friction factor is 0.0065 and it is horizontal. Determine the pumping power required in each case
