A cantilevered reinforced concrete beam is shown in Figure 1. Similar beams are spaced at 3 m o/c. The concrete is of normal density and has a strength of 25 MPa. All rebars will be epoxy coated and have a yield strength of 300 MPa. Stirrups (10M) have been specified at a spacing as shown in Figure 1. A single layer of tension steel (4-20M bars) will be placed along the entire length of the beam. The service uniform dead load (not including self-weight) is wD = 0.45 kPa and live load is w L = 1.0 kPa. The service point loads are P D = 13 kN and P L = 28 kN. The beam will be located outdoors and is subject to freezing and thawing, however, no snow is expected to accumulate on top of the beam. The maximum aggregate size is 20 mm. Use the ULS load combination 1.25D 1.5L 1.0S
