A centrifugal pump that pumps water at 25C is positioned in such a way that its axis is 3.5 m above the level of the suction tank and 45 m below the level of the impulsion tank. The losses in the impulsion and suction pipes are 8.5 and 1.5 m respectively, in these Losses due to the entry (k = 1) and exit (k = 0.5) of deposits are not included. At the exit The impeller diameter is 350 mm and the width of the blade at the outlet is 25 mm. The pump rotates at 1800 rpm. If the water inlet to the impeller is radial; 35 blade outlet angle, mechanical efficiency 75%, 75% gauge efficiency, 93% volumetric efficiency. Determine: a) the NPSH available, b) the total head, c) drive power, d) the flow rate, e) the characteristic curve of the pump and the piping system, f) graphically show the optimum operating point.
