A certain mineral processing company intends to separate a slurry containing inorganic particles. If the available thickener is of circular basin and it desired to treat 200 L/s of a slurry which contains 20 m inorganic particles whose density is 2.6 g/cm suspended in water at a concentration of 0.65 g/cm. Calculate: (1) the minimum area and (ii) the diameter of a thickener It may be assumed that the slurry cannot be tested and calculations can be done on the basis of the Richardson and Zaki equation. Take the underflow concentration as 1.560 g/cm and also calculate (iii) the underflow volumetric flow rate assuming total separation of all solids.
