the topping cycle and a reheat Rankine cycle for the bottoming cycle.
The T-s diagrams of both cycles have been calculated assuming
isentropic processes in the plant and are shown in Figure Q2. The
main heat exchanger provides heat transfer between gas exhaust
(10-11) and the steam (2-3). A subsidiary small boiler reheats the
steam (4-5) before the entry to the low pressure turbine. The

During the test runs isentropic efficiencies of the gas turbine and the
gas compressor are measured to be equal to G-tur =85% and
G-comp=80% respectively. The tests on the steam high pressure and
low pressure turbines found the isentropic efficiencies of these
turbines both to be HP??tur=LP tur =85%. Losses in the heat exchanger
and irreversible processes in the water pump can be neglected.
At steady operation of the plant, the steam is supplied with the rate of
30kgsec.
(a) Find the gas temperature at the exit of the compressor and
gas turbine. Find enthalpies of steam at exits of both steam
turbines. Calculate the mass flow rate of air in the gas turbine
cycle.
