A common criticism of the Black Lives Matter movement is that we shouldn't focus on one single race because all lives are important. Although in a literal sense, all lives are
important, one goal of the Black Lives Matter movement is to point out and take steps to correct the disparities evident in the article written by Edwards, Lee, and Esposito (2019) and by Nix et al. (2017). In these articles disparities in how Black men experience police use of force are discussed. Imagine you are having a debate with someone who has never taken a law and justice course, but who does not believe that these disparities are important or even that they exist.
How would you respond, with empirical data, to another person if you were engaged in such a debate? The strongest response will draw from each of the three articles mentioned.
