A cook, Richard Roose failed to poison John Fisher, the Bishop of Rochester. King Henry VIII has found a suitable punishment in case anyone tries to poison him. The 1531 Acte of Poysoning decrees that the poisoner shall be boiled. Richard was duly immersed into a large cauldron of freshly boiled water. He 'roared mighty loud' upsetting some of the spectators before he died.
