A cryptographically secure hashing algorithm will provide a unique output of the same length for any input it processes. For an identical input the algorithm will always produce an identical output, allowing us to confirm that the two inputs are identical. If even one bit is different, however, the hash output will be different allowing us to identify when there is even the smallest difference in the two inputs. No matter how large or how small the inputs are the output of the hash algorithm will always be the same size.
