A disruptive innovation that is trying to evolve in my career in radiology is new software and processes that allow technologists to work from home, specifically CT and MRI techs. This is still a very new idea that is working its way through the radiology community. It would potentially make it so that technologists do not have to personally be at the hospital or facility. Instead, a "patient manager" on-site would be there to put patients on the table, check IVs, center patients within the gantry and ultimately be on standby for any other issues that could arise during the exam. The existing market that would be disrupted would be the need for so many technologists in the workforce. If hospital systems worldwide were to move to this model, the career outlook for radiologic technologists would astronomically plummet. This could potentially put many people out of work
