A first-order liquid-phase reaction (AP) is carried out in a well-mixed fluidized bed reactor (FBR) containing solid (non-porous) spherical catalyst particles, with 10mm particle diameter. The FBR contains 80kg of catalyst and is operated isothermally at 450K under conditions where external mass-transfer to the catalyst surface is rate limiting (CA,surface=0). The fluid flow rate is set at 100L/s and the outlet conversion obtained is 0.51 . It is desired to conduct the same reaction in an isothermal packed bed reactor (PBR) containing 80kg of catalyst, with 15mm particle diameter. The PBR has the same total bed volume as the FBR. If the reaction remains under external mass-transfer control, what conversion will be obtained from the PBR if it is operated isothermally at 350K with a feed flow rate of 100L/s
