a) In a constant-temperature atmosphere around Earth, the pressure of nitrogen gas at the altitude of Everest is 0.37 times its value at sea level. What is the corresponding ratio for argon gas? ( An argon atom has mass 1.13 times that of a nitrogen molecule.) b) The acceleration due to gravity on the surface of Venus is 0.91 times that on Earth. The atmosphere is almost all carbon dioxide (14 g/mol). Assume the atmosphere has temperature 700 K. The top of Skadi Mons, the tallest mountain on Venus, is 10.7 km above the Venusian reference datum (the "sea level" equivalent on Venus). What is the ratio of the atmospheric pressure at the top of Skadi Mons and at the reference zero altitude? (For reference: Venus's atmosphere is much thicker than Earth's; at zero Venusian altitude it's about 90 times the pressure of Earth's atmosphere at sea level.)
