A lady named Angela has been identified of a very malicious cancer for which there has been no effective medication or treatment available. Andrew, husband of Angela, heard that a pharmaceutical laboratory called ProfMaxi has recently developed a new drug that may be able to help Angela out. Andrew went to ProfMaxi and was told that the price for each dose of this new medicine was HKD20,000. ProfMaxi said they actually had planned to market the new medicine at HKD30,000 per dose, so they were already giving a special price to Andrew. However, as Andrew and Angela have spent all their savings in fighting with this deadly disease, they really cannot afford such a high price. After the 1st visit to ProfMaxi, Andrew tried very hard to borrow money in every legitimate way. However, he could only manage to get HKD12,000. So he went to ProfMaxi again and asked for a further discount. He also promised to pay the HKD8,000 if he could borrow more later. Unfortunately, Andrew's request was rejected because ProfMaxi said that it had put more than HKD10 million in developing this product and all the investors had been waiting for their returns for a number of years. Andrew returned home and struggled for a few days before he decided to break into the ProfMaxi's laboratory and steal the medicine. The next day, this break-in and theft were reported extensively as the headline in local newspapers. That drew the attention of Billy, a police officer and also a friend of Andrew. Billy knows that Andrew's wife has not been well and he remembered seeing Andrew wandering outside ProfMaxi and behaving in a very suspicious way. Billy also struggled for a couple of days and then decided to report what he saw. Andrew was arrested and admitted what he had done without hesitation. Then he was sent to the court and could face up to 2 years' jail, depending on the judge's final decision.
