A local County Public Health office keeps track of contracts/grants using an Excel spreadsheet. They would like to take the data being recorded and create a database.
I have also attached an Excel file so you can see all the information.
Customer Statement:
I am tasked with tracking contracts/grants that our agency receives. I currently maintain a few Excel files with this data. These files contain data regarding contract/project name, beginning/end dates, amount, Program Manager, Division Manager, what expenses are covered, etc. The files contain some of the same data, and whenever changes occur (amount, grant dates, etc.), I have to update each Excel file. Definitely leaves the door open for human error: I may update one file, but not the other; data entry error (transpose numbers); etc.
Thinking ahead we will need the database able to create the following form/reports:
Grants/contracts by year (i.e. a full listing of grants received in fiscal year 2019)
Ability to run a report by Grant, and compare year over year data. For any chosen grant, view data (amount, etc.) for all years we may have received that grant.
Report of which grants pay for Indirect costs, Facilities/Rent, etc.
What contracts are coming up for review by month
Steps to complete:
Design a normalized database and produce an ER diagram (using software of choice, please submit file in original file format. IE a Vision diagram would be .vsd) *Option: You can use Access to create the tables and relationships.
Add fields and data types as necessary.
List any and All Assumption you have for Business Rules.
