A manager responsible for software development wishes to form high performance teams, so that they can implement new technologies which will help in keeping up with, and staying ahead of, the competitors

 

TASK 1

Create a case study about this fictional case as if you were writing about a real company that you would be studying:

1. Develop the case: tell the reader more about the company and the unit that the manager leads what exactly does the company develop? For what type of clients? How many people work at the company and in the unit that the manager leads? What is the structure of the unit that the manager leads, and what type of jobs does it include?Etc.

1. Consider individual performance and motivation: what factors such as skills, experience and motivation are likely to drive performance?

1. Consider teamwork: how can team interaction reinforce performance and motivation and how can this be supported? which aspects of team interaction could be detrimental to performance and how can this be avoided?

1. How can performance of individuals and teams best be measured, and why do you consider this the best way?

TASK 2

Write a report containing your case study and including the following elements:

• A table listing the main information about the company

• An organigram of the unit that the manager leads

• A table listing the main skills, experience and types of motivation that drive performance for each job type in the unit

• A table showing the ways that team interaction can strengthen or weaken motivation, the reasons why this happens and what the company can do to support or avoid these effects

• A table showing the performance parameters that are measured, and how they are measured, and why you choose each of them

• Text commentary of all the above, well structured, using subtitles
