A mash contains a small amount of bran oil. The bran oil is immiscible with the mash, part of which can be considered to be aqueous and part an inert solid. The saturated steam is bubbled into the mash. The vapor that rises is withdrawn and condensed in a vat where the oil floats on water. That is the product. The saturated vapor pressure of the oil is 0.12 mm of Hg at 100C and at 99C is 0.07 mm of Hg. The vapor pressure of steam at 100C is 760 mm of Hg and 754 mm at 99C. In between, linear interpolation can be used. On condensing the vapor, find the mols of oil produced per mol of steam. If the molecular weight of oil is 350, calculate g oil/g water produced.
