A mixture containing components A and B is separated in a continuous distillation column. The bottom stream from the distillation column is a liquid that is partially vaporized in a reboiler. The liquid stream emerging from the reboiler is taken off as the bottoms product, and the vapor is returned to the column as boilup (see Figure 1). The stream data and the thermodynamic data are shown in Table 1 and 2 below. Determine the required heat for the reboiler assuming no heat loss to the surroundings. Table 1: Stream data From column: Liquid, 98C, 46.2 mol% A, 53.8 mol%B Bottoms: Liquid, 98C, 15 mol% A, 85 mol%B Boilup: Vapor, 98C, 55 mol% A, 45 mol%B Boilup Reboiler Table 2: Thermodynamic data From column Bottoms H (cal/mol) Figure 1 Component A Component B T(C) Liquid Vapor Liquid Vapor 55 0 7205 0 5723 60 201 7319 189 6803 70 362 7423 348 6892 98 1384 7945 1312 7419
