A mixture of 15mol% ethanol and 85mol% water needs to be separated by distillation. However, due to an azeotrope between these two components an entrainer is used, n-pentane. The resulting ternary system is shown in Figure 2.1 (on page 7), with a ternary heterogeneous azeotrope. It is determined that the two-column distillation sequence shown in Figure 2.2 below will be able to produce almost pure products of ethanol and water. Draw this distillation sequence on the attached Figure 2.1 (on page 7 ) assuming that the flow rate of the recycled distillate from Column 2 is twice the flow rate of the feed stream.
