A model that I have discussed before was a decision tree model, this type of model helps to weigh the different outcomes that can occur from making a certain decision. In my job, I may not use a formal decision tree model but we use the same thought process daily. For example, there certain steps for the skin or exterior of a building to be worked on, but we are not ready for certain steps so we weigh the decisions of doing other steps to still maintain progress but that will still derive potential issues. Transitions may not look good or a j-mounding may be place too low to the deck. Compared to a simulation model, both models can be useful in forecasting potential outcomes and finding way to remove constraints. There are different uses in construction for these models, I don't think that both can be used for every scenario. The model simulation will be better with historical data, in my case projection scheduling and time of completion for different scopes of work by taking historical durations of the workers, whilst the decision tree will be more for scenarios that the team is in certain whether a decision will end up with positive or negative results.
