A nationwide survey found that 71% of Americans don't want women to return to old traditional workforce roles, where women stayed at home to care for the family and men did all of the paid work outside the home. At the same time, only 29% of Americansthink society is better off if women work outside the home.

One of those who thinks society is better off if women do not work is a lawyer named Timothy Barrett. He wrote a newspaper opinion piece in which he argued that working women should give up their jobs to men. In conjunction with this, he suggested that women should stay out of stay at home keeping house and raising kids. He reasoned that if women dropped out of the workforce, then that would increase pay for men so much that families would need only one income. Furthermore, if women stayed at home, then families would not have daycare expenses. So family incomes would go up (or at least stay the same) and family expenses would go down; as a result, families would be in much better shape financially.

Does Mr. Barrett's argument make Good Economic Sense? Explain why or why not. You may wish to comment on Mr. Barrett's social philosophy, but in order to receive full credit for the answer you must consider his Economic argument.
