" Essilor is a large company that seems to be embracing growth strategies similar to Toms, and other companies that are giving back to regions of great need. Their thought process on how this charity would contribute to profit growth is similar to things we discussed in chapter 4. The idea that people who are given these glasses could have their lives dramatically improve to the point that the are able to work and gain some income that could then turn around and purchase a new pair of glasses from the people who gave them theirs for free I think is smart. Simply put if people have more income then they are more likely to spend their money on things like glasses that are vital to their health and well being. This idea creates a customer loyalty with Essilor and that customer may turn around and say to someone else to go to get their glasses from an Essilor brand because of this good initiative they are pushing. I think that the way they are handling their social responsibility is great and they are giving back in a way that is not only generous but smart from a business standpoint.

I also think that their growth strategy for technological innovation is incredibly collaborative as they have provided opportunities for small family businesses or small to midsize companies to contribute to the bigger picture. Essilor is looking for a partner to create these amazing apps to help make the process for getting the proper eyeglasses easier and more accessible to everyone. Apps like these will also draw more people in as people would rather have the easiest process possible when purchasing things like glasses. When opening up to these smaller companies all around the world that also could lead to access to newer markets that Essilor is maybe not as involved in yet. This mindset could lead to more growth opportunites for Essilor and increase their overall success. "
